
ACCEPTED MATERIALS FOR DISPOSAL
MSW (MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE) REFUSE OR GARBAGE
Any solid waste, putrescible or nonputrescible waste, animal or plant material from the handling, preparation, processing, cooking, consumption or storage of food and other waste which can be disposed of in a sanitary landfill, which is generated by the normal day-to-day operation of a residence, business and industrial, governmental or institutional establishments utilizing rollout carts.
BULKY WASTE
Household furniture, mattresses, bedding, plumbing fixtures, ceramics and large cardboard from establishments or residences utilizing rollout carts.
C & D (CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION DEBRIS)
Solid waste such as lumber, plywood, sheet rock, tin or other items resulting from the construction, remodeling, repair or demolition activities performed by the resident or owner (No Contractors or Contracted Services) of an establishment or residence utilizing roll-out carts.
YARD WASTE
LIMBS, TWIGS, LEAVES, VINES, SHRUBBERY, BEDDING, TRIMMINGS, ETC. Place these items next to the street beside your roll out cart separate from the other items. Each limb must be less then ten (10) feet in length. Limbs must be stacked in a straight, neat stack next to the street and separate from other items. They will be collected the same day as your roll out cart. DO NOT PLACE THESE ITEMS DIRECTLY UNDER UTILITY LINES
WHITE GOODS
Inoperative or discarded refrigerators, ranges, ovens, water heaters, freezers, washers, dryers or other similar appliance or parts thereof resulting from normal day-to-day maintenance of an establishment or residence utilizing rollout carts.
PREPARING MATERIALS FOR COLLECTION
MSW (MUNICIPLE SOLID WASTE) REFUSE OR GARBAGE
Place material in your rollout cart. Loose material will not be collected. If your cart is full, extra material must be put in a bag, box or tied in a bundle and placed next to your rollout cart. These items will be collected on the same day as your rollout cart.
BULKY WASTE
Place these large items on the curb next to your rollout cart. Smaller, loose items must be put in a bag, box or tied in a bundle. These items will be collected on the same day as your rollout cart.
C & D (CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION DEBRIS)
Each large single items must be less than six (4) feet long and weigh less than 50 lbs. All other C & D items for collection must be put in a bag, box or tied in a bundle. Loose material will not be collected. Each bundle must not be over four (4) feet long, eighteen (18) inches in diameter or weigh more than 50 lbs. These items will be collected on the same day as your rollout cart.
YARD TRASH

WHITE GOODS
Empty refrigerators, ranges, ovens, water heaters, freezers, washers, dryers or other similar appliances before placing them on the curb for collection. Your must CALL the Town no later than Thursday for these items to be collected. Collection day for these items is each Friday.
UNACCEPTED MATERIALS FOR DISPOSAL
HAZARDOUS WASTE, EXCLUDED WASTE, SPECIAL WASTE
Materials or substances defined and regulated for disposal by a Federal, State or Environmental agency, which poses a danger or hazard to the environment or persons collecting such material. Contact correct agency for proper disposal (EPA, DEHNR, CRSWMA, ETC.)
MEDICAL WASTE AND INFECTIOUS WASTE
Solid waste from the diagnosis, treatment, research, production, testing or immunization of humans or animals which may produce an infectious disease. These include sharps, blood products, body fluids, and microbiological or pathological waste. Contact DEHNR, County Health Department or personal physician for proper disposal.
SEPTAGE OR SLUDGE
Any untreated or partially treated sewage solids, liquids or other sewage waste of human or domestic origin generated from a residence, business, institution or treatment plant (waste or water). Contact DEHNR or the County Health Department for proper disposal.
WASTE, OIL AND BATTERIES
Motor oil, unmounted passenger car or truck tires and automotive lead acid batteries are not accepted. These items can be taken to the Carteret county Convenience site located on Hibbs Road, Newport for disposal
